Adventure Caving
Cherrapunjee and its surrounding regions has numerous cave formations as a result of centuries and centuries of torrential downpours. These caves serve as natural drainage systems during the monsoons and hence can only be accessed during the dry winter season (November-March).
Our region is rich in karst limestone rocks and hence you can see beautiful limestone formations in these caves, like stalagtites, stalagmites, flowstones etc. Almost 25 years+ of cave exploration, documentation and study of these complex subterranean systems have been done in this region. These have yielded enormous amount of data about the planet we live in today- as a matter of fact, cave study done inside Mammluh cave, Cherrapunjee have led to categorize the age we live in as the ‘MEGHALAYAN AGE’.
